The Sackville station is an inter-city railway station in Sackville, New Brunswick. It is operated by Via Rail. The station was staffed until October 2012. Doc truyen black jack chap 135 2. The building is now closed, though Via Rail passenger trains continue to stop at the station. Checked baggage service is now handled by on-train crew members.

History[edit]

The Intercolonial Railway (ICR) opened between Truro and Moncton on 9 November 1872. ICR passengers in Sackville were initially served by a station constructed from wood that was located near the site of the present-day station, not far from the Sackville Harbour turning basin and shipping wharves.

The ICR project created the impetus for several industrial concerns to establish in Sackville, one of these being the Dominion Foundry Company, which was established in 1872 near the railway station to manufacture stoves. The firm changed ownership in 1888, becoming the Enterprise Foundry Company.

On 8 April 1874 the New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island Railway Company began construction of a line from Sackville to Cape Tormentine. Construction halted after several months and the project lay dormant until 1878 when new project backers restarted construction. The line opened in 1887, joining with the ICR mainline east of the station. On 15 October 1917 the federal government opened a train ferry service from Cape Tormentine to Port Borden, giving importance to the Sackville railway junction.

In 1905 the ICR undertook to build a replacement station building, opening the new 112-storey station in 1907. It was constructed of locally quarried plum and olive coloured sandstone and was located adjacent to the original ICR wood station structure overlooking the Tantramar Marshes and Sackville Harbour.

Crown Melbourne (also referred to as Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex) is a casino and resort located on the south bank of the Yarra River, in Melbourne, Australia. Crown Casino is a unit of Crown Limited, and the first casino of the now-international Crown brand. Metro Train without walking, or V/Line: Routes 96, 109 and 112 stop outside the Casino, on the west end. You can catch 109 or 112 from Southern Cross Station. Bus: A selected number of Eastern Suburbs buses will extend to Crown Casino at night. NightRider: A few NightRider services depart from the Casino West End tram stop.

The new station building is a long, low rectangular block with a bell-cast hip roof and projecting bay windows on both the track and Lorne Street sides of the structure. The overhanging eaves expose wood brackets and tongue-and-groove boarding. A gabled dormer and round-arched window with stone voussoir projects above each bay window.

On the night of 29 July 1908 a fire broke out on the Enterprise Foundry property, destroying the foundry plant as well as the Intercolonial Railway Hotel and the original Intercolonial Railway Station. The new station received minor damage but was not destroyed.

In 1918 the ICR was merged into the new federal Crown corporationCanadian National Railways (CNR). CN transferred responsibility for its passenger rail services to the new federal Crown corporation Via Rail in 1978.

Prior to the construction of the casino, part of the site was used for a Streamline Moderne train station.[2] Constructed in 1940, the station was upgraded with neon lights in 1946.[3] This station was demolished in 1971 and replaced by the Union Plaza Hotel, which included a small waiting room to be used as a station for Amtrak trains.

The Union Plaza Hotel and Casino, originally called the Union Plaza in reference to the Union Pacific railroad station that stood at the site, opened on July 2, 1971. Its original owners included local businessmen: Sam Boyd, Howard Cannon, Jackie Gaughan, and Frank Scott.

From 1990 to 1992, the red neon object was installed at the top of the neon sign.

Before the discontinuation of the Desert Wind train route on May 10, 1997, Amtrak's Las Vegas, Nevada station was located at the Plaza. The station and ticket windows were directly connected to the hotel. It was the only train station in the United States located in a casino. The Las Vegas Limited also served the station during the service's short existence.

Today, Las Vegas is served by Greyhound bus from the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub in Salt Lake City, Utah. Its two Las Vegas bus stops are located at McCarran International Airport and in Downtown Las Vegas, near Union Plaza station.

Future plans[edit]

Amtrak plans for restoration of Las Vegas rail service surfaced almost immediately after the discontinuation of the Desert Wind. These plans recommended using Talgo trains between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, similar to Amtrak's Cascades route in the Pacific Northwest. This plan was never implemented and Las Vegas went without passenger rail service. Las Vegas is one of the largest metro areas in the US without passenger rail service.

In 2005 DesertXpress Enterprises LLC was formed in an attempt to restore passenger rail service to Las Vegas, though their Las Vegas terminal is planned to be a newly-constructed station.[4]

A competing company, Las Vegas Railway Express, also plans to begin passenger rail service between Las Vegas and Southern California, though at lower speeds.
